It's true. My trusty Apple keyboard was old and filthy (probably just like yours) and I couldn't stand it any longer. I remembered reading online that people have stuck their keyboards in the dishwasher and sanitized them that way. So I decided to give it a shot. If it was ruined it wouldn't be much of a loss.
Two days ago I stuck it in the top rack, regular hot wash (not heated drying) along with the rest of the dishes. It came out like new, but dripping wet. I let it air dry for two days, plugged it in, held my breath, and started typing. I have myself a fully-functioning, sparkling-clean keyboard!
